Yesterday, Treet TV announced that it would suspend live filming of its programs effective immediately. The private announcement made to Treet producers cited, among other reasons, the culmination of 18 months of debate on the future of their role as live broadcasters in Second Life. A comprehensive blog post by Metaverse Arts Executive Producer, Designing Worlds Producer (also aired on Treet TV) and publisher of Prim Perfect Magazine, Saffia Widdershins, can be read on the Prim Perfect Blog.
I am not certain yet what this means for Metaverse Arts, which would be producing it first anniversary show at the end of this month. Eleven successful episodes, great in-studio audiences and a subscriber base of 169 fans on our subscribe-o-matic are nothing to take lightly.
Producing the program, even just once a month, is a lot of work with minimal staff and no budget, but it has been fun and exciting to do. The options that we have in front of us right now include finding someone to film and edit the show for us to air on Treet.tv, moving to another venue, or possible cancellation.
I will be spending the next week working on Relay for Life for our Avalon Town team, but we will be considering the possibilities for the show and hope to make an announcement about it’s future within the next couple of weeks. Feedback and suggestions are welcome, and thank you everyone for making Metaverse Arts fun and rewarding!
